Sofía Gallisá Muriente es una artista visual cuya práctica reclama la libertad de agencia histórica, proponiendo mecanismos para recordar y reimaginar. Sus piezas emplean texto, imagen y archivo como medio y sujeto, explorando sus poéticas y políticas. Sofía ha sido becada del Cisneros Institute en MoMA, Smithsonian Institute, Puerto Rican Arts Initiative, US LatinX Art Forum y otros. Su trabajo se ha exhibido recientemente en Documenta Fifteen, MoMA, Whitney Museum, la Trienal de diseño del Smithsonian, MoCA Taipei, Savvy Contemporary, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico, y galerías como Proxyco, El Kilómetro y Embajada. Ha participado de residencias artísticas con el Archivo Histórico de Vieques (Puerto Rico), Alice Yard (Trinidad & Tobago), Headlands Center for the Arts (California), FAARA (Uruguay), y Fonderie Darling (Montreal), entre otras. De 2014 a 2020, codirigió la organización Beta-Local en San Juan. Fue invitada a curar la exhibición In Dispersion en VisArts Maryland en 2022, presentando trabajos de artistas puertorriqueños negociando experiencias diaspóricas a través del mundo. En 2023, publicó el libro de artista Observatorio de lagunas: notas de campo con Editorial Educación Emergente. Vive y trabaja en Puerto Rico, y actualmente es becada de United States Artists (2024) y el Trellis Art Fund (2025).
